Job summary

Bank of America is seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator to lead day-to-day team activities, manage on-call schedules, and mentor teammates. You will optimize performance, implement security controls, and coordinate with DevOps and application teams to support enterprise-critical databases.

Required 10 years of experience in large SQL Server environments, deep Windows Server knowledge, and strong performance tuning skills.

Qualifications

• 10 years of job-related experience in SQL Server environments.
• Strong experience managing and supporting large-scale, enterprise-wide SQL Server environments in complex, high-availability production settings.
• Deep understanding of Windows Server administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of SQL Server performance tuning, indexing strategies, resource management, and health monitoring.
• Experience with database security best practices including access controls, encryption, auditing and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available database solutions that support critical business operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day activities and prioritize tasks for the team, ensuring SLAs.
• Provide escalation point for team members and triage high-priority incidents.
• Perform responsibilities of team members across related squads.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure alerts, dashboards, and monitoring are in place for new projects.
• Assist with resource interviews and onboarding processes.
• Conduct access reviews and compliance activities.
• Create on-call rotation schedules and ensure off-hours coverage.
• Maintain system stability, resiliency, and performance across supported systems.
• Tune queries, optimize indexing, and analyze execution plans for performance.
• Support database upgrades, migrations, and cluster expansions with minimal downtime.
• Work with application and DevOps teams on database-related deployments and troubleshooting.
