Job summary

Beacon Software in New York seeks its first dedicated security engineer to define enterprise security strategy and build the program from the ground up. You will own prevention, detection, and response across corporate and cloud environments, automate playbooks, and shape the security stack as Beacon grows.

Reporting to the VP of IT and Integration, you will collaborate with Beacon engineering and portfolio teams to drive secure, scalable growth while defining standards and operational playbooks

Qualifications

• Security leader with hands-on engineering across endpoint, detection and response, identity, cloud, SaaS, and email.
• Ability to build a security program from ground up with automation-first mindset.
• Comfortable presenting security strategy to portfolio founders and engineering leads.

Responsibilities

• Own prevention, detection, and response across corporate and cloud: tune detection stack and telemetry into SIEM.
• Own the endpoint security stack (EDR, DLP, secure browser, hardening) and the tooling roadmap.
• Lead incident response: readiness, playbooks, tabletop exercises, and cross-team coordination.
• Set and enforce identity and access standards (MFA, SSO, SCIM, least-privilege) and monitoring.
• Run security across the portfolio: onboarding audits, ongoing monitoring, SaaS risk at scale.
• Own email security and phishing awareness program.
• Run vendor security reviews for new tools.
