Job summary

Humana seeks a Lead Enterprise Architect to govern API ecosystems and define enterprise API architecture across the business. You will promote reuse, drive standardized patterns, and enable AI-driven governance in a large-scale enterprise environment.

You will collaborate with architecture, engineering, security, data, and business teams to accelerate adoption, while delivering platform capabilities and executive dashboards to measure success.

Qualifications

• 8+ years as a senior architect or technical lead in large-scale enterprise systems.
• 8+ years in API architecture, integration, or application development.
• Experience with API governance frameworks and lifecycle management.
• Hands-on with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, Kong, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway).
• Expertise in API security standards (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS).
• Strong knowledge of REST, GraphQL, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and multi-cloud/hybrid setups.

Responsibilities

• Define, evolve, and promote enterprise API architecture, patterns, and standards.
• Lead enterprise-wide API governance, including lifecycle management and compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive adoption of standards and reusable patterns.
• Build and scale enterprise API platforms enabling catalog-driven discovery.
• Develop AI-enabled governance, including automation and AI-ready design.
• Define reference architectures for event-driven, microservices, and LLM integration.
• Architect and operationalize agentic ecosystems and MCP-based integrations.
• Establish KPIs and dashboards to track API adoption and health.
• Lead prototyping and evaluation of emerging API, AI, and integration technologies.
• Improve velocity, scalability, and quality through standardized platform capabilities.
• Mentor architects and engineers on modern API design and governance.
