Job summary

Spokane County in Washington State is seeking a Wastewater Design Technician to lead project tasks within the Wastewater Division. The role includes reviewing sewer projects, guiding permitting processes, and coordinating with designers and inspectors to ensure compliance with county standards.

The position requires an Associate’s degree in Engineering and four years of civil engineering experience, plus a valid WA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college.
• Four (4) years of related field or office experience in civil engineering; or an equivalent combination.
• Possession of a valid Washington Driver's License at time of hire and for the duration of employment.
• Equivalent education, training and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and tracks residential and commercial sanitary sewer projects.
• Answers public inquiries concerning sewer improvements and guides them to County standards on sewer installation procedures.
• Reviews and processes applications for sewer permits.
• Works with designers and construction personnel to verify/track the availability of new portions of the sewer system for connection.
• May support drafting, design and contract document preparation for public works sewer projects.
• Assists with database management and technical support of software programs utilized by the department.
• Calculates cost to connect to the sewer and prepares Connection Charge Disclosures.
• Coordinates with outside organizations and agencies, both public and private, in matters related to customer service.
• Guides existing and new sewer customers through various sewer planning and permitting processes.
