Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Engineering Project Team Leader at the Mossville, IL site to drive engine and aftertreatment system simulations from concept through production.

You will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team, define performance requirements, and ensure compliance with emissions standards while leveraging data analytics for robust product optimization. The role demands strong technical leadership, PD culture, and collaboration with design, manufacturing, and supply chain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited engineering field.
• Experience leading engineering projects and teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of CAD and engineering simulations.
• Ability to develop and validate engine/aftertreatment systems.

Responsibilities

• Virtually develop and down-select concepts and performance component recipes for new engine and aftertreatment systems through the use of performance simulation and detailed data analysis.
• Provide project leadership to a diverse engineering team to define, optimize, and validate trade-offs for product requirements and development constraints.
• Ensure products satisfy emissions standards and leverage data analytics for enhanced optimization and robustness.
• Coach and mentor team members, offering subject matter expertise and growth opportunities to less experienced engineers.
• Support and instill Engineering Excellence within the team via coaching and creating and refinement of standard work documentation.
• Collaborate with customers and leadership to scope and execute projects that meet the needs of the business
• Accountable for delivering timely, high‑quality simulation and analysis impacting products/processes and providing clear recommendations to stakeholders
• Partner with design, manufacturing, supply chain and test to robustly deliver new products and improve validation processes
• Keep up-to-date on new technologies and drive continuous improvement to established techniques
