The Anywhere Real Estate Core Capabilities API Engineering team develops reusable, enterprise capability APIs used by both internal and external product development teams to rapidly build and release real estate software. We are seeking a Lead API Engineer (individual contributor) with proven experience in developing cloud-native API applications using Node.js. Significant experience with MongoDB, AWS, CI/CD, and test automation is required. This is a senior, code-contributing role that demands excellent technical skills, along with strong delivery, collaboration, leadership, communication, and documentation abilities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing peer relationships and fostering positive, open interactions. Full-stack experience is a plus but not mandatory.

What You’ll Do

1. Design and deliver flexible, scalable, and resilient software solutions.
2. Ensure solutions align with technical strategy, standards, and best practices (architecture, security, cloud, agile).
3. Conduct design and code reviews.
4. Promote an automation-first approach for product delivery and operational support.
5. Analyze, design, and validate solution viability.
6. Identify improvement opportunities and lead their implementation.
7. Collaborate with the Product Team to decompose and refine business requirements.
8. Deliver solutions that meet business needs and satisfaction criteria.
9. Build and maintain relationships within the organization to support team goals.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Minimum of 9 years of experience as a code-contributing member of an Agile team.
• At least 5 years developing microservices and RESTful APIs with Node.js.
• Over 5 years working with cloud-native applications on AWS services like Lambda, ECS, Kubernetes, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, MSK.
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React or Angular.
• At least 3 years working with MongoDB.
• 3+ years scripting CI/CD pipelines and integrating with DevOps tools like Sonar, Contrast.
• Experience with test automation tools like Cypress.
• 2+ years working with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform.
• Strong understanding of networking and security concepts.
• Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, tailored to the audience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Bonus Points to Stand Out

• Experience in UI/UX design feasibility.
• Experience translating web and mobile designs into code.
