Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Nuclear Engineer to serve as technical lead for MOV code and regulatory requirements across the nuclear fleet. You will own the MOV program documents, budgets, and software interfaces while coordinating complex engineering projects and mentoring staff.

Job description

Serve as technical lead for the nuclear fleet regarding MOV code and regulatory requirements
Own and administer corporate MOV program documents and fleet procedures
Review site MOV program document revisions
Prepare and check MOV calculations
Review and approve MOV diagnostic test traces
Own budgeting, interfaces, and required updates for fleet MOV software
Represent the fleet in industry MOV working groups
Review and disposition industry operating experience
Lead the fleet MOV working group
Support outages across the nuclear fleet
Provide engineering and technical expertise for identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex problems
Plan, coordinate, estimate, schedule, and monitor complex engineering work and projects
Prepare technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
Conduct engineering studies and recommend process enhancements and standards
Maintain knowledge of new developments, technologies, procedures, and equipment
Coordinate work activities and maintain accurate records and files
Coach and mentor engineering and non-degreed engineering professionals
Communicate effectively with all levels of management
Support company goals and represent Duke Energy positively and professionally

Requirements

Must meet the minimum ANSI requirements identified within Nuclear Operating Fleet Administrative Procedure AD-LS-ALL-0011, Confirmation of Regulatory Guide 1.8 Personnel Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program, or qualifying alternative as specified for the applicable level
A Master's degree in engineering may be considered in lieu of the bachelor's degree
Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience for Nuclear Engineer III
Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience, or 5 years plus state registration as a Professional Engineer, for Senior Nuclear Engineer
1 year of nuclear power plant experience
Must be badged for nuclear site unescorted access or able to obtain unescorted access within a reasonable time frame
Must pass site security access requirements, including General Employee Training, Radiation Worker Training, and Security Clearance checks
Subject to the site's Fitness for Duty Program
Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
Periodic travel required; travel expectation 5-15%
Preferred: AOV/MOV engineering experience
Preferred: Experience with AOV/MOV setup calculation software (KVAP/MIDAS)
Preferred: Experience with EPRI Performance Prediction Calculations
Preferred: Experience analyzing AOV/MOV test traces using Quiklook, PGNTest, MIDAS, or SuperTrend
Preferred: Utility industry experience
Preferred: Experience with ASME Code related to MOV and AOV programs
