This position provides support to the District 3 departments: Maintenance, Construction, and Design with drainage related tasks.
The key responsibilities for the Lead Engineer role include the following: review and approve grading and drainage plans for permitting, conduct drainage engineering hydraulic analysis for STIP construction projects, review and prepare preliminary and final drainage reports and field investigations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following:
Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant engineering discipline with licensure and four (4) years of engineering experience, one (1) of which must be as a Licensed Professional Engineer. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Must be certified by the NMBLPEPS as a Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing within six (6) months of hire.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Business reference check and driver's license verification are also required, and employment is conditional pending results. Must be certified by the NMBLPEPS as a Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing within six (6) months of hire.
Work is performed in an office setting with in-state travel, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting.
This position is not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
