This position is with the District Six Construction Office.

Position will work in the capacity of lead inspector on roadway, bridge, and maintenance construction projects.
Position will perform independent field inspections, perform highway construction and provide instruction and direction to other Inspectors in the inspection, testing, and documentation of construction projects, quality assurance of material and/or conduct field materials sampling and testing as needed to provide a safe, quality and cost-effective transportation system in accordance with policies, procedures, and specifications.
Being lead inspector on construction projects, testing of materials, documentation, working closely with contractors.
Traveling public and pedestrians.
The ideal candidate will have experience in:
High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of relevant experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Business reference check and Driver's License verification are also required and employment is conditional pending results.
Will require Technician Training and Certification Program (TTCP) certificates within one year of hire to include but not limited to: Nuclear Densometer, Concrete Field and Lab Testing, Aggregate, Soils, Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), Inertial Profiler Inspector, Drilled Shaft Inspector and Seeding Inspector.
Work is performed primarily in the field in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, wind, rain and snow. May include exposure to: Sunlight, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, insects and reptiles, noxious plants and infected trash; Moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals and/or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals.
High speed/high volume traffic and loud noises, confined spaces; Falls and bruises, considerable physical strain; Standing for extended periods of time doing traffic control or walking long distances. Hand dexterity required for some duties; numerous specific vision abilities to include: close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; some climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling to perform job duties; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Work may also be performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage to include working with faxes, copiers and printers. May be required to work irregular hours and is subject to call outs for emergencies.
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
