Eversource Energy in Boston, MA is seeking a Lead Engineer to join its Distribution Engineering Team. The role focuses on development, expansion, planning, design, maintenance and operation of the distribution system to meet reliability and environmental goals.
The position requires 8–10 years of electrical utility experience, leadership responsibilities, and a hybrid office schedule with travel to MA/CT/NH as needed.

We have 2 exciting full‑time opportunities to join our Distribution Engineering Team as a Lead Engineer. Distribution Engineering is responsible for the strategic development, expansion, planning, design, maintenance and operation of the system and its equipment to provide reliable service to customers. Technical solutions and modernization initiatives are improving operations and enabling integration of renewable energy resources. The group also works to prevent, evaluate and provide appropriate resolutions to system failures.
The Lead Engineer is responsible for the development, expansion, planning, design, maintenance and operation of the system and its equipment to meet the mission and objectives of the organization. In addition, this position coordinates the evaluation of system failures, and the appropriate resolutions, in order to provide support to operations on unplanned maintenance.
Responsible for ensuring that the Eversource distribution systems are designed to high quality standards that provide customers with safe, reliable, competitively priced and environmentally sound electric service.
This position shares accountability with peers in the strategy, development, and design of the organization’s Life Cycle Plan, a comprehensive long‑term plan for the transmission/distribution system. Responsible for supervising, assigning, prioritizing and directing the work performed by other Engineers and staff.
The roles are based in Dorchester, MA
HYBRID SCHEDULE: Eversource supports work‑life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.
