Job summary

Berkeley Lab in Berkeley, CA, seeks a Wiring Infrastructure Lead Engineer to lead IT Infrastructure technicians and coordinate with Network, Telephone, and Systems Groups on copper and fiber cabling.

You will design routes, provide cost estimates, ensure safety and compliance, document work, and mentor staff while delivering projects for new facilities and remodels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 8+ years in cabling/infra.
• Experience with copper and fiber cabling and related infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead IT Infrastructure technicians responsible for copper and fiber communications infrastructure.
• Conceive, plan and implement approaches for installation of inside and outside plant cabling.
• Train staff on cabling installation and termination techniques.
• Document work orders, layouts, and billings in IT systems; ensure safety compliance.
• Collaborate with project managers, scientists, and engineers on cabling needs.
• Design cabling routes and procure resources for timely task completion.
• Maintain Division 27 standards and provide guidance on infrastructure projects.
• Provide cost estimates for copper/fiber cabling projects.
