Job summary

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is seeking a Wiring Infrastructure Lead Engineer to head the Communications Cabling Team. You will design, install, and oversee copper and fiber cabling for complex lab facilities and remodels, coordinating with network, telephone, and systems groups.

The role requires a BS in CS/Engineering and 8+ years in cabling and infrastructure, plus strong communication and safety skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; 8+ years in communications cabling and structured cabling systems.
• Experience with copper and fiber physical properties; plant infrastructure drawings; data communications concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily assignments for the Communications Cabling Team.
• Serve as primary contact for communications cabling inquiries.
• Design and implement cabling routes for inside and outside plant installations.
• Train staff on installation and termination techniques.
• Document all work orders and projects; ensure accurate documentation.
• Ensure safety compliance with building, DOE and Lab requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, scientists and engineers on wiring needs.
• Provide cost estimates for copper/fiber cabling projects and maintain inventories.
