Job summary

Starbucks is seeking a Lead Engineer for the Integrated Planning System to drive end-to-end delivery of data-to-UI capabilities. You will set architecture across streaming, APIs, and data modeling while enabling AI-enabled workflows and reliable operations.

You will mentor engineers, align with product and data teams, and deliver measurable improvements in planning and decision cycles across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong background in streaming architectures (Kafka, Flink, Spark).
• Backend API development and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of product capabilities from data to UI.
• Lead architecture decisions across streaming, APIs, and data modeling.
• Establish AI-enabled development workflows with guardrails.
• Design AI-assisted decision support with real-time inferences.
• Own API contracts, validation, naming, and deprecation strategy.
• Drive data quality and master data governance.
• Set latency/throughput targets and maintain SLOs.
• Mentor team through reviews, pairing, and design sessions.
• Translate business needs into technical plans and communicate tradeoffs.
