Job summary

General Motors seeks a Lead Combustion System Development Engineer to plan, develop and execute subsystem tests in a world-class facility, leading cross-functional teams, data analysis and calibration development while migrating lab work to math-based models.

The role requires 8+ years in automotive engineering, SI/CI engine experience, and collaboration with design and analysis teams. Travel up to 25% and a hybrid work arrangement are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of automotive engineering experience.
• Experience with SI/CI engine systems, thermodynamics, and emissions formation.
• Experience with AVL PUMA, IndiCom, CAMEO, Concerto and ETAS INCA software.
• Demonstrated drive for results and strong planning/problem-solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel up to 25% for offsite testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead Product Development Teams to improve design features, calibration strategies and test methods.
• Collaborate with design, 1D and 3D analysis teams to meet program goals.
• Track development tests through build and ensure test readiness.
• Develop and execute first-time capable tests for calibration and hardware.
• Mentor and develop new engineers and cross-functional teams.
