Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to provide high-quality care for a wide range of emergencies, including surgeries and exotics. You will be part of a mentorship-driven hospital team with VEG Education programs and unlimited ER CE, supporting you as you advance your career.

You will work in a fast-paced environment on a floor with a strong culture of teamwork, mentorship, and client communication, ensuring the best outcomes for patients and families.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree required.
• Live and breathe emergency medicine; ability to perform emergency surgery and endoscopy.
• Thrive in team-oriented environments with strong communication.
• Ability to stand prolonged hours and lift up to 25 kg; work in noisy environments.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients immediately as part of VEG triage.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exams.
• Conduct physical exams and required diagnostics (ultrasound, X-ray, bloodwork, biopsies).
• Create diagnostic and therapeutic plans and communicate options to clients.
• Prepare estimates and present them to customers.
• Maintain and review medical records for accuracy.
• Explain tests and treatments to clients and address concerns.
• Perform minor and major emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures.
• Educate clients on aftercare and preventative measures.
