Addison Group in the Greater Seattle Area is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead embedded software projects. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, overseeing architecture, development, and testing in a regulated environment.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years in software development, 4+ years in RTOS-based embedded systems, and 2+ years leading teams, with strong cross-functional collaboration and a commitment to quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• 4+ years developing software for bare-metal and/or embedded RTOS.
• 2+ years managing software engineering teams or leading software development projects.
• Strong understanding of embedded software architecture and hardware-integrated systems.
• Experience working within a regulated industry.
• Knowledge of software development best practices, version control, testing, and change management.
• Strong communication, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers, providing technical direction, performance feedback, and career development.
• Oversee embedded software architecture, design, development, integration, verification, and validation.
• Guide technical decisions involving embedded platforms, hardware/software integration, and system performance.
• Manage engineering priorities, resources, timelines, and deliverables throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support product development and successful project execution.
• Establish and improve software development processes, testing practices, documentation, and quality standards.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges while balancing product requirements, quality, and delivery timelines.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and evaluate emerging development tools and technologies.
