Job summary

Safran Federal Systems in the United States is seeking an experienced software engineer to lead the design and development of embedded software for R-PNT products. You will craft robust code in C/C++ for government and military applications, while extending legacy hardware or developing new designs.

The role demands 6+ years of relevant experience, strong C/C++ skills, and hands-on work with Linux, Qt, and containerized environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or related field; 6+ years experience, or equivalent.
• Proficiency in C/C++, embedded systems and real-time software.
• Experience with Linux, Qt and Python.
• Knowledge of Git and CI/CD tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements software for embedded systems and software applications in C and C++.
• Serves as the lead on project teams to design software to meet customer requirements and performs systematic testing.
• Anticipates future engineering needs and improvements to existing system designs and incorporates these capabilities and current work
• Leads software estimation efforts.
• Participates in final qualification of deliverables including validation of documentation.
• Analyzes and corrects assigned defects, performs system failure analysis, and provides corrective action.
• Contributes to overall software team success by developing, training and holding others accountable to software and technology best practices.
• Design and develops prototypes to validate new concepts.
• Reports status and shares knowledge with management or other team members.
• Reports progress and risks to Engineering project management.
• Analyzes project requirements and develops work breakdown, leads others in the successful execution of the technical work packages as assigned.
• Authors technical specifications and reviews others work for clarity and completeness.
• Serves as a primary contact with suppliers or customers.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
