Job summary

Trident Systems is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead embedded hardware development for space and defense applications in the Space Electronic Systems division. You will guide the full hardware lifecycle from requirements through delivery, ensuring performance, reliability, and radiation-mitigation compliance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and leadership to shape the technology roadmap, support program execution, and contribute to business development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 9+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree (7+ with a Master’s).
• Experience with mixed-signal PCA development using HDI PCBs and high-speed components (>1 GHz).
• Experience with FPGA/microprocessor development (Verilog/VHDL).
• Experience with PCI, PCIe, cPCI, VME, or VPX standards (VITA 46, VITA 65).

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering discipline personnel.
• Subject matter expert for embedded hardware engineering discipline.
• Lead embedded hardware development process: requirements spec, characterization, simulation, high-speed digital design, signal processing, schematic capture, PCB layout and routing, PCA testing, and system integration.
• Conduct peer reviews of design work and documentation.
• Provide technical guidance to discipline team, other engineering teams, PMO, EGD and VP.
• Support project execution as needed based on resource demand and design challenges.
• Cost Account Management.
• Support business development efforts.
• Represent Trident Systems Engineering with customer and vendor interface as a SME.
• Support ES technology roadmap by identifying goals for department and plans for execution.
