Job summary

Trident Systems is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineering Manager in Fairfax, VA to lead a team of embedded software engineers across multiple programs. This hands-on leadership role combines personnel development, staffing, technical direction, and execution accountability for complex, hardware-integrated systems.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in embedded/real-time software, experience guiding teams, and the ability to contribute to architecture, design, and debugging as

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/EE/SE or related discipline and 12+ years’ experience; or 10+ years with graduate degree.
• Expertise in embedded/real-time software development with C/C++, Linux/RTOS.
• Proven leadership of engineers or technical teams across programs.
• Strong understanding of software lifecycle from requirements to verification.
• Ability to manage resources and priorities across multiple programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop embedded software engineers and leads.
• Staffing, hiring, onboarding, and retention planning.
• Performance management, career development, coaching, goal setting.
• Oversee staffing plans and resource allocation across programs.
• Contribute to software architecture, design, integration, and testing when needed.
• Promote CI/CD, reusable software, and rigorous engineering practices.
• Coordinate with Systems, Hardware, Verification, Cybersecurity, and DevOps teams.
• Ensure on-time delivery within cost, schedule, and technical commitments.
