Motion Recruitment is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineering Manager to lead a small team responsible for real-time firmware behind motion control systems.

The role combines hands-on firmware work with leadership, requiring strong C/C++, Verilog, and Python expertise, plus experience with RTOS and FPGA architectures. Onsite Canton, MA is required, with collaboration across hardware and software teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 10+ years of firmware development with real-time embedded systems, preferably in motion control.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small team in embedded firmware development.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Verilog, and Python.
• Strong understanding of FPGA and/or microprocessor architectures, peripherals, and communication protocols (UART, SPI, CANopen, EtherCAT).
• Experience with RTOS and embedded development tools (debuggers, emulators, oscilloscopes).
• Familiarity reading schematics/datasheets; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small firmware team (2–4) to design, develop, test, and maintain motion control firmware.
• Set best practices for firmware development and testing; contribute to code reviews.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and applications engineers cross-functionally; drive documentation and testing.
