Job summary

Xscape Photonics Inc. is seeking a skilled Firmware Engineer to lead validation and test firmware for our optical communication hardware.

You will drive bring-up, characterization, and qualification of control algorithms for lasers, modulators, and photodetectors in our integrated photonics platform. You will prototype control methods in Python and implement them as embedded firmware, ensuring repeatable validation across an array of hardware units.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of embedded firmware experience in C/C++.
• Experience with real-time systems and interrupt-driven design.
• Experience with microcontrollers and I2C/SPI/UART interfaces.
• Ability to read schematics and work with PCB hardware during bring-up.
• Version control using Git and standard software practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement validation firmware for MCU-based platforms driving lasers and sensors.
• Implement Python-prototyped control methods as embedded firmware.
• Interface with ADC/DAC for laser current control, temperature, and photodiode feedback.
• Develop bootloaders, firmware update mechanisms, diagnostics/telemetry.
• Configure sensors and peripherals over I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO.
• Support hardware bring-up and lab debugging with standard instruments.
• Document failure modes and hand off validated behavior for productization.
• Maintain design docs and test procedures.
