Job summary

Schlumberger Limited in Houston seeks an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer focused on motor controls to own firmware development and drive real-time control strategies on electromechanical systems.

You will collaborate with electronics and multidisciplinary teams to validate motor-drive integration, tune field-oriented control, and ensure robust startup, protection, and diagnostics across high-performance hardware.

Qualifications

Typically 10+ years of embedded firmware development with at least 3 years in motor controls.
Strong C/C++ skills on microcontrollers or DSPs with real-time execution.
Experience with PMSM/BLDC control and high-voltage drives.

Responsibilities

Own firmware requirements, architecture, implementation, integration, and verification.
Adapt existing C/C++ firmware across application, motor-control, and communications CPUs.
Develop state machines, positioning and continuous-rotation functions, and diagnostics.
Tune motor controls, including field-oriented control, current/torque regulation, speed control, and startup.
Lead firmware bring-up on revised hardware, verifying sensing calibration, ADC/PWM timing, gate-control interfaces, and protection responses.
Develop command and telemetry interfaces with recovery from communication failures.
Validate operating limits, regeneration handling, stopping behavior, and performance under low-speed, high-torque, stall, and changing-load conditions.
Maintain version-controlled firmware and test evidence in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
