Leidos Defense Systems in Huntsville, AL seeks an embedded firmware developer to lead architecture, design, and testing across FPGA, microcontroller, and MPU platforms. You will partner with cross-functional teams to deliver aerospace and defense solutions and advance hardware-software integration throughout the product life cycle.

The role emphasizes firmware architecture, DSP/data-link awareness, and hands-on debugging in a fast-paced environment with leadership growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering.
• 4+ years of embedded system design and test or 2+ years with MS.
• Trade-offs of embedded targets (FPGA/SoC/microcontroller/RTOS).
• Experience with embedded firmware in C/C++/assembly.
• Familiar with UART, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, CAN bus protocols.
• Lab experience with instrumentation, test equipment, debugging methods.
• Collaborative engineering environment experience with multi-disciplinary teams.
• North Alabama residency or relocation to Huntsville area.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain Secret Clearance.

Responsabilités

• Lead as key technical leader through all product life-cycle phases.
• Architect, implement, and test embedded firmware/software on diverse platforms (FPGA, MCU, MPU).
• Evaluate technology improvements and perform trade studies.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, technicians, and customers.
• Troubleshoot board-level issues and identify corrective actions.
• Support resolution of technical issues during manufacture and testing.
