Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems seeks an embedded firmware developer to architect, implement, and test firmware for FPGAs, microcontrollers, and mixed‑signal platforms used in aerospace and defense systems.

You will lead architecture decisions, collaborate with hardware and software teams, and support products from concept through qualification and post‑delivery support. A strong background in C/C++, Verilog/VHDL, and embedded systems is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent (ABET‑accredited).
• 0+ years of experience in embedded system design.
• Understand trade-offs of embedded targets (FPGA/SoC/microcontroller/RTOS) for cost/option architectures.
• Proven experience with programming and/or hardware description languages such as C, C++, assembly; VHDL/Verilog.

Responsibilities

• Lead as a key technical leader across all product life cycle phases from concept to manufacturing and post‑delivery support.
• Architect, implement, and test embedded firmware/software on platforms including FPGAs, microcontrollers, and mixed-signal designs.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers and project teams to meet diverse requirements and drive architecture decisions.
• Troubleshoot board‑level issues, assess root cause, and identify corrective actions.
• Support resolution of technical issues discovered during manufacture and test of deliverable products.
