Job summary

ConnectDER, a Philadelphia-based innovator in energy tech, seeks a hands-on firmware lead to own the device software system end-to-end. You will define architecture, split work into streams, and guide a small team while coding where needed.

You will drive safety-critical software, metering design, and secure firmware updates, collaborating with hardware engineers and third-party partners to ship scalable, secure solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science; 7+ years firmware experience and shipping products.
• Expertise in C/C++ and/or Rust with embedded debugging on 32-bit MCUs.
• Experience delivering safety-critical software and pursuing certifications.

Responsibilities

• Own the overall device software architecture and break requirements into workstreams.
• Architect and implement safety-critical software; own FMEA, safety case, and certifications.
• Design metering and data acquisition, signal processing, and calibration.
• Co-design with hardware engineers; drive board bring-up and testability.
• Own secure firmware updates, including secure boot and key management.
• Maintain CI/CD, shipping from prototype to mass production.
