Job summary

Collins Aerospace, part of RTX, seeks a Lead Electronics Engineering Lab Technician for the Component & Material Evaluation Laboratory in Cedar Rapids. You will test components to meet electrical, mechanical, and environmental criteria as part of qualification, using advanced analytical tools to validate failures and determine root cause.

You will learn cross-discipline testing, non-destructive inspection methods, fixture design, and broader teamwork with engineers and leadership, while

Qualifications

• AA/AS degree (or equivalent) with minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
• Strong electronics background.
• Passing score on CETa Exam.
• Experience designing and building test fixtures.
• Experience with 3-D printing.
• Experience debugging and testing at the component level and knowledge in the use of test equipment (Impedance Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, Curve Tracer, Power Supplies).
• Ability to develop test programs to automate testing and data collection.
• Understanding of circuit design, component application, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Apply electronic and mechanical theory to test components for electrical, mechanical, and environmental characteristics.
• Perform failure analysis of components ranging from resistors to microelectronic devices; validate failures and determine root cause.
• Interpret specifications, vendor datasheets, and Mil-Standards.
• Define test setups, build fixtures, generate automated test programs, and create detailed test documentation.
• Characterize components utilizing a wide range of test equipment for failure verification testing.
• Communicate results, resolve vendor correlations, and recommend solutions.
