Job summary

Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) invites applications for a Head of Electrics for the BAM Harvey Theater. This full‑time role offers an hourly rate of $56.08 and is based at the Harvey Theater in Brooklyn, NY.

Contracted work begins October 2025. The position oversees electrical and lighting operation, loads-in, focuses light plots, and supervises crews, collaborating with production staff to present high‑caliber performances.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in lighting and electrical stage work.
• Advanced knowledge of theatrical lighting and reading technical drawings and designs, and ability to install, operate, maintain and strike scenery.
• Working irregular hours and standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds with team assistance.
• ETCP Entertainment Theater and Arena Electric Certification within 364 days of hire date.
• Knowledge of Vectorworks, Lightwright and/or AutoCAD is a plus.
• Union affiliation: if not currently a member, join IATSE Local 4.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stagehands and production management to present cutting-edge performances.
• Perform and supervise electrical and lighting operation, installation and maintenance in the Harvey Theater.
• Lead and supervise lighting crews, assign tasks, and coordinate with the crew chief.
• Load‑in, hang, and focus light plots; install lighting and electrics in the Harvey Theater.
• Create paperwork such as rental lists, equipment purchases, running lists, and expendables.
• Represent the Electrics Department in production meetings.
• Perform lighting and electrical maintenance throughout the Harvey Theater.
