Job summary

Vista Unified School District is seeking an experienced Lead Electrician to oversee industrial electrical work within the district, train staff, and ensure compliance with safety and accessibility codes. The role requires analyzing blueprints, diagnosing problems, coordinating with other trades, and maintaining detailed records.

The position reports to the Maintenance and Grounds Manager and involves installing, inspecting, and upgrading electrical systems across facilities, including classrooms

Qualifications

• Safety practices knowledge and compliance with codes and regulations.
• Ability to estimate resources and materials for electrical work.
• Experience with hazardous materials handling and safe work practices.
• Mechanical aptitude for installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.
• Proficiency with standard office equipment and relevant software.
• Experience repairing motors, panels, switches, and related electrical components.
• Project planning and scheduling to complete work orders on time.
• Accurate recordkeeping of work orders, materials, and costs.

Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints, schematics, and drawings to plan installations and upgrades.
• Train and direct assigned staff; provide day-to-day work direction.
• Coordinate with supervisor and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
• Diagnose electrical problems and determine repair or replacement needs.
• Install, inspect, maintain, and replace electrical components to meet safety standards.
• Monitor inventory and prepare estimates for equipment and materials.
• Respond to emergencies and ensure safety compliance at jobsites.
• Produce reports and documentation on activities and personnel.
