Job summary

Santa Barbara Unified School District is seeking a skilled Electrician to install, maintain and repair electrical systems across district facilities. This full-time role reports to the Facilities Supervisor and requires interpreting plans, ensuring code compliance, and coordinating with contractors.

The position demands repairing motors, wiring, and control equipment, plus driving to sites as needed. A CA Class C license and four years of journey-level experience are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 4 years journey-level electrical experience.
• Valid California Class C driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot and repair motors, bell, clock and lighting circuits, electrical control equipment, transformers, conduit and duct systems, fixtures and ballasts.
• Check circuits and repair refrigeration, heating and ventilating equipment.
• Install computer cable, telephone and intercom wire, jacks, data ports, or surveillance equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints and work orders; ensure compliance with codes.
• Estimate cost of labor and materials for projects; requisition parts as needed.
• Drive a vehicle to and from work sites; maintain attendance.
• Maintain punctual attendance.
