Job summary

Qualifications

  • 18 mos trg or 18 mos exp in electrical work under supervision of experienced electrician.
  • Formal arithmetic education including basic operations.
  • Or 6 mos exp as Electrician 1, 52281.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

  • Act as lead worker over lower-level electricians and/or crew and/or incarcerated individuals in installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls and equipment
  • Installs, tests, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls and equipment including motors, heaters, fire/alarm systems and elevators
  • Determines materials needed, estimates costs and submits purchase requests
  • Reads blueprints or schematics and maintains inventory of supplies
  • Maintains tool inventory and completes tool control forms daily
  • Performs other maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, sheet metal and HVAC as required
  • Ensures compliance with security regulations
  • Installs/troubleshoots telecom and data processing equipment in institutional setting
  • Serves on institutional committees; attends training and meetings
  • Performs security functions as required and may assist with snow/ice removal and grass cutting
