Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a Lead Testing Technician for our Electrical Power Services team in Lanham, MD. You will lead complex testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and power system evaluation projects as the highest-level field technical resource.

Responsibilities include serving as the technical lead, inspecting and commissioning high-, medium-, and low-voltage systems, reviewing drawings, and mentoring junior staff. Travel up to 75% may be required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
8–12 years of experience in electrical testing, commissioning, field service, or related electrical power systems work.
Demonstrated experience serving as a lead technician or project lead.
Expert knowledge of electrical power systems, protective relaying, and testing methodologies.
Ability to travel up to 75% as business needs require.
Familiarity with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, NEC, and IEEE/ANSI standards.

Responsibilities

Lead acceptance testing, maintenance testing, commissioning, startup, and system evaluation projects.
Serve as the technical lead for complex electrical power system projects.
Inspect, test, evaluate, troubleshoot, and commission equipment (switchgear, relays, transformers, cables, MCCs, ATS, UPS).
Analyze test data to determine condition, root causes, and corrective actions.
Review project specs, commissioning plans, tests, diagrams, and construction docs.
