Job summary

General Dynamics - Bath Iron Works is seeking a Lead Electrical Instructor for the DDG 51 class. The role focuses on shipboard electrical distribution instruction, curriculum development, and hands-on training for Navy personnel, including DCTT/ETT support. A strong background in high-voltage systems (4160V) is a plus.

The position requires 10+ years in active duty surface Navy with Navy instructor experience, and a relevant engineering degree or equivalent. Travel to PRE-COM sites is possible.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
  • USN Engineering schools and/or experience is a plus
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Leadership: Conduct safe classroom and shipboard instruction.
  • Project Execution: Instruct BOTH junior and senior USN personnel. Observe, assess, and train ships personnel in the conduct of practical hands-on application of standard Navy documentation, programs and doctrine: i.e. EOP, EOSS, EOCC, SDOSS, PMS, MSFD, Electrical Safety, etc.
  • Training and Development: Develop, update, and teach curriculum in a formal classroom setting, to include PowerPoint material. Assist in training the ships DCTT and ETT.
  • Team Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with other instructors individually or as a group and in shipyard production areas. Support Manufacturing personnel in the execution of shipboard hands-on indoctrination. Serve as a counterpart to PRE-COM crew Engineering Department personnel, providing guidance and assistance as required to influence the successful transition of ship and crew into the operational fleet.
  • Continuous Improvement: Always be willing to take both simple and complicated questions for resolution.
