Fab 62 is an advanced semiconductor fabrication facility for Intel Corporation, located at Intel's Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona. The M&T team is responsible for delivering the engineering, procurement, and construction scope required to complete and finish‑out a leading‑edge chip‑making facility. This work demands precision, cleanliness, schedule certainty, and coordination across thousands of craft and professional personnel. The project supports the continued expansion of domestic semiconductor manufacturing capacity, contributing to a more resilient technology supply chain while creating significant opportunity for the local Arizona workforce.
Job Summary
In this position, you will be responsible for the organization and direction of construction engineering personnel and activities relating to electrical construction engineering, subcontracts, and engineering liaison to the design functional group. You will interpret design drawings and specifications, supervise field verification of received and installed permanent plant materials, and provide technical direction to construction engineers and superintendents in an electrical engineering capacity across the project.
Major Responsibilities
- Provides technical and administrative direction to assigned subordinate construction engineers.
- May provide supervision to craft personnel and coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues.
- Establishes a Design/Field Engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Area Engineer, including agreement on engineering deliverables.
- Responsible for quantity take‑off, control, reporting and forecasting.
- Directs the design of temporary construction facilities as required.
- Coordinates and monitors the interfacing between the construction automation plan and the project controls program at the jobsite.
- Directs preparation of cost estimates for construction activities and coordinates the preparation of cost reports, forecast and progress reports.
- Reviews and provides input to project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule.
- Develops and ensures the implementation of the project construction procedures from the Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs). Coordinates any deviations from SWPPs.
- Coordinates with the superintendents and subcontractors to plan construction schedules.
- Directs the preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services, and equipment. Approves requisitions as delegated by the Project Field Engineering Manager.
- Reviews material receiving reports (MRR) and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials.
- Coordinates subcontract activities to ensure materials, equipment and quality comply with design plans and specifications.
- Plans and recommends procedures to be implemented by superintendents to ensure construction operations are within requirements of engineering design and specifications.
- Directs the maintenance of construction engineering records for job history.
- Supervises the receiving, distribution and filing of plans and specifications.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 10‑13 years of relevant experience or 14‑17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Field engineering experience leading electrical construction, inspection, testing, turnover, and technical issue resolution for electrical systems and related commodities.
- Strong knowledge of electrical construction methods, design documents, specifications, vendor data, installation requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate field engineers, subcontractor technical representatives, superintendents, foremen, and craft professionals while supporting safe, high‑quality work execution.
- Proficiency with work planning, AWP/IWPs, turnover packaging, construction sequencing, quantity tracking, reporting, construction automation, and applicable Bechtel systems such as TeamWorks, SETROUTE, Unifier, completions modules, and PunchWorks.
- Ability to coordinate subcontractor technical activities, support change documentation, monitor progress, identify risks, manage field engineering records, and maintain inspection, punchlist, and turnover deliverables through startup and final acceptance.
