Job summary

Bechtel Corporation in Chandler, AZ, is seeking a Subcontract Technical Representative to oversee field subcontracts, monitor progress, manage change orders, and provide management with financial, legal, and technical information for the Fab 62 project.

You will interface with subcontractors and Lead personnel, plan work, inspect quality, track payments, and ensure safety and adherence to Bechtel processes as the project advances through bid, evaluation, and award phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with Bechtel Standard Work Processes (SWPPs) and related Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
• Construction field experience with heavy structural steel and direct hire in subcontract execution.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to a Zero Accidents safety program.

Project Overview

Fab 62 is an advanced semiconductor fabrication facility for Intel Corporation located at Intel's Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona. The M&T team is responsible for delivering engineering, procurement, and construction scope to complete a leading‑edge chipmaking facility, requiring precision, cleanliness, and coordination across thousands of personnel.

Job Summary

The Subcontract Technical Representative will support and oversee field subcontracts, maintain ongoing review of progress, manage change orders, resolve technical issues, and provide management with financial, legal, and technical information.

Major Responsibilities

• Interface with assigned subcontractors and coordinate with Lead Superintendents, Lead Field Engineers, and the direct hire team.
• Plan, coordinate, and schedule subcontractor work.
• Monitor and inspect subcontractor quality, validate installed quantities, and review monthly progress payments and invoices.
• Track subcontractor force account, time and management reports, and align subcontractor activities with overall project work.
• Conduct surveillances and inspections to confirm compliance with requirements; coordinate with Engineering as needed.
• Exercise professional judgment within broad guidelines.
• Provide direction to subcontractors, construction office technical, or clerical personnel.
• Participate as the construction representative during bid, evaluation, and award phases when appropriate.
• Ensure adherence to Integrated Safety Management System principles.
• Manage and coordinate Subcontractor Construction Work Packages (CWPs).
• Manage subcontract-specific Condition Reports, create Corrective Action Plans, and participate in Casual Analysis.
• Coordinate subcontract execution and scheduling needs with Project Controls and other team leads.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Required bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Working knowledge of Bechtel Standard Work Processes Procedures (SWPPs) and related Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
• Demonstrated commitment to a Zero Accidents safety program and strong communication skills.
• Construction field experience with heavy structural steel and direct hire in subcontract execution.
• Understanding of Cost Accounting Standards and applicability.
• Previous experience as a Quality Control Representative and managing construction subcontracts.
• Ability to conduct field inspections requiring physical activity and use of PPE.
• Self‑starter, highly motivated, and able to work well in a team.
