Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. in East Chicago, IN is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to support our Indiana Harbor manufacturing operations.

This key leadership role will drive electrical reliability, equipment performance, and continuous improvement initiatives across a complex industrial environment. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, lead capital and maintenance projects, mentor maintenance personnel, and ensure safety, reliability, and production performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in manufacturing.
• Strong troubleshooting, project management, and communication skills.
• Experience with industrial electrical systems and equipment.
• Ability to work in a heavy industrial environment and support a continuous operation.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Preferred: 7+ years in steelmaking, metals, mining, or heavy manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E safety standards.
• Leadership or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical reliability and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical, controls, and automation issues.
• Manage maintenance and capital projects: scope, budget, schedule, implementation.
• Perform root cause analysis and develop long-term solutions to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to support production goals.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to maintenance personnel and contractors.
• Support safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Assist outage planning, equipment upgrades, and commissioning activities.
• Provide technical support for a 24/7 operation as needed.
