Job summary

Northwood Space is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to drive the digital compute and power electronics for our high-performance antenna systems. You will lead architecture, design, bring-up, and validation of complex, multilayer PCBs and high-speed interfaces across the hardware team.

The role emphasizes leadership in fast-paced development, cross-functional collaboration with software, and hands-on debugging to deliver manufacturable, reliable solutions deployed globally.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in electrical design.
• Experience running electrical engineering team in high-stakes environments.
• High-density/high-speed design with FPGAs, data converters, SerDes, 10/100 GigE.
• Schematic capture and PCB layout design.
• Troubleshooting EMI/EMC (conducted or radiated).
• PCB materials knowledge and board stack-up definition.
• Familiar with soldering and hot air rework methods.
• Experience with full product lifecycle (concept through production).
• 5+ years designing high-speed mixed-signal electronics and multilayer PCBs.
• High-speed interfaces and networking tech: SerDes, DDR, JESD204B/C, 10/100G Ethernet.
• Signal integrity, power integrity, EMI mitigation, PCB stack-up.
• Leading hardware from architecture to production ramp.
• Debugging hardware with lab instruments; root-cause analysis.
• Leading cross-functional teams; mentoring engineers; tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical system architecture for compute, networking, and power.
• Drive electrical design for high-speed digital systems and multilayer PCBs.
• Work with 100G networking and complex digital power trees; make architecture trades.
• Schematic capture, layout, and bring-up for FPGAs and microcontrollers.
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to optimize system performance.
• Test prototypes and assess performance in lab and field.
• Coordinate with production teams to ensure manufacturability and integration.
