Job summary

Dennis Group in Austin, TX seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to support building electrical engineering practice for food and beverage facilities. You will lead design of power systems, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage networks, delivering bid packages, calculations, and coordination with trades.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in building electrical systems, AutoCAD/Revit proficiency, and FE/PE preferred, with travel up to 35%. The role offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering (4-year).
• 8+ years designing electrical systems for building power and related systems.
• Experience in lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage systems for buildings.
• Experience with bid documents and procurement of electrical materials.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit or related design programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of building power distribution including 208V/480V and MV for industrial facilities.
• Document calculations: short circuit, coordination, arc flash, sizing and voltage drops.
• Design lighting for processing spaces and coordinate fixture placement with trades.
• Design fire alarm systems per NFPA 72 and local codes.
• Design low voltage systems (LAN, phones, PA, Wi‑Fi, access control, cameras).
• Produce bid documents and specifications; manage procurement of long lead equipment.
• Travel to customer project sites for fieldwork and meetings (25–35%).
• Mentor junior team members and support department standards.
