Job description

The majority of the projects performed for our clients require multi-discipline interface and coordination.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Lead efforts performed by group members to ensure successful completion of electrical engineering project deliverables to meet all technical, quality, financial, and project controls expectations
  2. Initiate and convey scope of work to group members
  3. Define deliverables (e.g., calculations, specifications, drawings, design changes, etc.)
  4. Review status and track progress of group members to maintain project scope and budget, and keep the client informed
  5. Conduct routine status meetings
  6. Submit progress reports
  7. Track and resolve open items and emergent project issues
  8. Coordinate completion of project deliverables

Lead the team during detailed design phases for all electrical engineering aspects, including interface and coordination with other disciplines.

Develop project scope, cost estimates, and schedules for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.

Create proposals for electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.

Provide technical oversight and supervision for all electrical engineering activities, including:

  • Design change packages for installing, replacing, or upgrading plant equipment to ensure reliability
  • Engineering calculations supporting design change packages, such as power studies, short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, and relay settings
  • Specifications for equipment procurement
  • Evaluation of bids from vendors, including supporting vendor inquiries and maintaining tracking mechanisms

Interface with the client to validate scope and ensure satisfaction.

Mentor and guide the development of the group.

Identify and follow up on client needs that could lead to strategic opportunities.

Leverage good client relationships to develop follow-on work.

Prepare and coordinate multi-discipline proposals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • At least twelve years of experience in electrical system design
  • Minimum of three years leading an engineering design group through all project phases
  • Experience in selecting equipment, materials, and preparing engineering change packages, calculations, and specifications
  • Experience as a firm/client liaison in a support or leadership role
  • Knowledge of electrical system design, including low and medium voltage systems
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear station
  • PE licensure preferred
