Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to drive the design and development of power converters, inverters, gate drivers, and control algorithms for Industrial Variable Speed Drives used in energy extraction. You will lead power electronics initiatives and collaborate across disciplines to deliver reliable drive systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics.
• Experience in power electronics design including AC-to-DC and DC-to-AC conversions.
• Experience developing gate drivers, fault detection systems, and protection schemes for power electronics.

Responsibilities

• Define and validate power converter and inverter architectures for industrial applications.
• Lead analytical and design activities using established power electronics methodologies.
• Develop gate driver designs for optimal performance and reliability.
• Create fault detection, protection, and signaling schemes to enhance diagnostics.
• Support development of advanced power control algorithms for industrial VSDs.
• Collaborate with teams to validate performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Communicate technical strategies to senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to technical documentation, white papers, and design guidelines.
• Work with supply chain and commercialization teams for product lifecycle management.
• Drive innovation in power conversion technologies while meeting quality requirements.
