Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Transmission Design Engineer to lead high‑voltage transmission line design across 69kV–765kV projects in Pasadena. You will serve as a SME for 500kV/765kV lines and mentor junior engineers while coordinating design activities to meet client specifications and internal standards.

The role requires a BS from an ABET‑accredited program with at least 12 years in transmission design, strong PLS‑CADD skills, and thorough knowledge of NEC/IEC/IEEE/ANSI

Qualifications

• BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 12 years of transmission design experience.
• 3+ years of experience in 500kV and/or 765kV transmission line design
• Familiarity with electrical considerations for 765kV transmission lines
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience preparing scopes of work, conceptual designs, design basis, equipment/material selection, and calculations/specifications.
• Experience working with clients on 69kV–765kV transmission lines.
• Knowledge of standards including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI.
• Experience reviewing design drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Serve as a subject matter specialist in 500kV and 765kV transmission lines
• Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure installations comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information per client requirements and S&L formats.
• Perform independent reviews of work including calculations, drawings, and transmission line models in PLS-CADD.
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy's System of Processes.
