The role emphasizes overseeing chemical and radioactive waste operations, radiation monitoring, and support services for patients receiving radiation therapy, contributing to a safe and compliant EH&S program at UCSF.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with science coursework plus EH&S experience.
• At least two years of hazardous waste management experience.
• Current 24-hour HAZWOPER certification.
• DOT Hazmat training within the last 3 years.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for hazardous, radioactive, medical, and controlled-substance waste.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• California Driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and wear PPE, including full-face respirator.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of chemical and radioactive waste ship outs; sign manifests and maintain records.
• Lead technicians; assign daily schedules and train staff per SOPs.
• Manage chemical waste operations; labeling, storage, and inventories.
