Job summary

Contemporary Amperex Technology Kentucky LLC (CATK) seeks an experienced EHS professional to manage comprehensive environmental compliance across wastewater, air emissions, and waste streams. You will lead EPA inspections, prepare monitoring reports, and coordinate with production and engineering teams to embed regulatory requirements in operations.

The role requires strong knowledge of EPA regulations, risk assessment, and emergency response planning, with short-term travel to sites for audits

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Safety Engineering.
  • U.S. Professional Engineer (PE) certification, EPA-recognized certifications, or CIH designation preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in environmental compliance for battery manufacturing, clean energy, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of EPA regulations (Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA) and state/local requirements.
  • Proficiency in pollutant treatment technologies and guidance for waste management solutions.
  • Excellent English communication for client/government interactions; Chinese language skills preferred.
  • Experience building EPA-compliant systems for large-scale manufacturing; familiarity with EPA battery recycling guidelines.
  • Hands-on experience in hazardous waste management and EPA forms (EPA Form 3000 series).
  • Willingness to travel for audits and cross-regional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize strategies for management of wastewater, air emissions, and hazardous waste to ensure EPA/compliance.
  • Monitor EPA-certified facilities and propose efficiency improvements.
  • Lead environmental compliance reviews, prepare monitoring reports, and coordinate inspections.
  • Track EPA and OEM environmental policies to align factory practices with regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop emergency response plans per OSHA/EPA protocols.
  • Ensure procurement and storage of hazardous chemicals comply with EPA regulations.
  • Coordinate with production, procurement, and engineering to integrate environmental requirements.
  • Partner with external environmental service providers to align with EPA frameworks.
  • Oversee on-site EHS management and safety programs; liaise with CATL headquarters.
