Job summary

Melwood Horticultural Training Center Inc. is seeking a Part-Time Lead Educational Aide for Colin Powell Academy at 12200 Fort Washington Rd, Fort Washington, MD 20744. You will assist teachers with activities, monitor students, and support academics in math, science, and English.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred coursework in education and prior experience with children. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or related field preferred.
• Experience working with children or in an educational setting is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of core subjects and ability to provide academic support in math, science, English, and other subjects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with activities including career exploration and homework support.
• Supervise students during program hours and monitor safety and well-being.
• Lead small group sessions tailored to student needs across subjects and career topics.
• Collaborate with teachers, PD, and staff to create engaging educational activities.
• Maintain attendance records and prepare program materials in the ETO system.
• Communicate progress to parents/guardians in writing or verbally.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions as required.
