Job summary

Forest Lake Times is seeking a professional Editor to lead day-to-day reporting, editing and layout for the Forest Lake newsroom. The role requires strong news judgment and the ability to manage copy, design and story placement across sections.

The Editor will supervise staff, ensure deadlines are met, and collaborate with reporters and other editors to deliver accurate, compelling local coverage. A journalism degree and English proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or other 4-year degree in journalism or related field.
• Strong planning orientation.
• Professional proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English.
• Valid drivers’ license and proof of insurance.
• Familiarity with AP Style and local modifications; InDesign and Blox.
• Knowledge of current design trends and advancements.

Responsibilities

• Interact successfully with reporters and editors.
• Work collaboratively across departments to meet deadlines.
• Copy edit stories and proof pages for accuracy and fairness on deadline.
• Write clear headlines, decks, and cutlines for layout.
• Design for clarity and visual impact on deadline.
• Coach reporters in editing and news judgment.
