Job summary

Akin in Seattle, WA is seeking a Lead Teacher to guide an Early Learning classroom under Head Start and ECEAP standards. You will design engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons, lead a collaborative teacher team, and build strong relationships with families to support children's growth across social, emotional, cognitive, and physical domains.

You will observe progress, document learning, conduct screenings, and help families navigate program transitions, with duties extending to

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) required; Bachelor’s preferred or equivalent with plan to obtain required qualifications.
• Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field preferred.
• CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.
• HIV/AIDS and Bloodborne Pathogen training completed or to be completed.
• DCYF/MERIT background checks and fingerprinting completed as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily classroom activities with developmentally appropriate lessons.
• Develop individualized learning plans within 90 days of enrollment.
• Observe and document progress; maintain confidential records.
• Coordinate required developmental screenings within 45 days of enrollment.
• Lead and support classroom team; plan activities and curriculums.
• Foster partnerships with families and conduct four parent-teacher conferences annually.
