Job summary

YWCA Hartford Region is seeking a Head Teacher I to provide a safe, supportive environment and to plan age-appropriate programs for children in the Early Learning Center. You will assist the Site Manager with supervision, training, and evaluation of assistant teachers and volunteers.

Key duties include curriculum delivery, coaching staff, ensuring compliance with health, safety, licensing, and accreditation requirements, and maintaining strong communication with families and the community.

Qualifications

• Must meet the degree requirements as outlined by the OEC, or CDA certification with 12 credits in Early Learning or has a plan to meet OEC requirements for Head Teacher.
• Connecticut Head Teacher Certificate and CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within two months of employment.
• Minimum one year of work experience in an educational setting with children; knowledge of curriculum planning; understanding of child development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage the delivery of age-appropriate programs and activities that foster children’s development.
• Coach and mentor support staff to implement developmentally appropriate lessons and environments.
• Ensure compliance with OEC, NAECY accreditation criteria, health and safety standards, and program policies; maintain communication with parents and staff.
