Job summary

Current is a remote-first agency across the US. Lead Engineers drive the technical direction and delivery of complex digital experiences for multiple client engagements, partnering with strategy, design, production, and engineering teams to define technical approaches and delivery plans.

You’ll serve as a technical lead and point of contact for client stakeholders, building scalable, maintainable web apps and CMS-driven platforms while guiding standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of software or web development experience.
• Expertise in JavaScript, PHP and modern front-end/back-end frameworks.
• Advanced experience with Drupal and WordPress CMS platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical architecture, development, and delivery of complex digital projects across multiple client engagements.
• Partner with strategy, design, production, and engineering teams to define technical approaches and delivery plans.
• Serve as a technical lead and point of contact for client stakeholders.
• Build scalable, maintainable, and high-performing web applications and CMS-driven platforms.
• Develop proof-of-concept solutions and evaluate technical feasibility for integrations and new features.
• Guide engineering standards, code quality, and architectural best practices across projects.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor engineers across the team.
• Assess technical health of active projects and recommend improvements or modernization opportunities.
• Collaborate on project planning, estimation, technical scoping, and delivery strategy.
• Contribute to internal tooling, workflows, and engineering culture initiatives.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve processes and solutions.
