Job summary

Riceland Foods, Inc. is seeking a productive operator to manage drying and transferring systems, monitor equipment, and keep accurate logs. The role requires routine bin measurements, moisture testing, and coordination with supervisors to ensure safe, efficient operations.

The position involves working in a grain-drying facility with exposure to dust and noise, lifting up to 100 lbs, and seasonal long hours. Prior grain-drying experience is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor drying/transferring systems for specified dryers.
• Perform bin measurements and transfer rice as needed.
• Read daily instructions and complete required logs and paperwork.
• Run moisture meters, retrieve samples, and document results.
• Assist in training dryer staff and coordinate with supervision.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and report repairs.

Job Description

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and cleaning of the drying/transferring systems, including monitors and computers, for the 4000 GSI Dryer and the 10000 Shanzer Dryer.

Job Duties

• Perform bin measurements twice a shift.
• Dry incoming wet rice with proper binning of rice as stated in Dryer instructions.
• Read and reference daily instructions.
• Complete SA log as required.
• Transfer rice from bin to bin as needed.
• Operate sweep augers in bins as needed.
• Assist Truck Dump or Lab as needed.
• Assist in training of Dryer employees.
• Complete all required paperwork for Drying rice.
• Operation of forklift, front end loader, or skid steer.
• Work in Coordination with others well.
• Work independently well.
• Working at heights, in noisy, dusty environments, with exposure to the elements.
• Various Sanitation duties, such as cleaning bins, dryers, yard, boot pits, etc.
• Perform light maintenance as needed.
• Occasionally lift up to 100lbs.
• Seasonally work long hours.
• Complete monthly safety training.
• Coordinate with supervision daily.
• Retrieve samples and operate moisture meter while drying or transferring.
• Perform daily inspections of all equipment, notifying supervisor of any repairs needed.
• Communication of tasks with seasonal workers.
• This is a safety sensitive position.
• Any other duties assigned by manager.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or GED, 6-12 months related manufacturing experience or grain drying experience is preferred.
