Job summary

Darwin Recruitment is seeking a Project Superintendent for dredging and marine construction. This field-based role supervises crews, coordinates equipment and resources, and reports to the Project Manager from pre-bid through close-out.

You will lead safety, quality, and schedule on multi-million dollar projects, travel to remote sites, and liaise with clients to ensure on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising dredging, marine construction, civil field-based projects valued at ~$10 million or more.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze project plans, specifications, drawings, and requirements.
• Proven experience supervising project personnel, field engineers, crews, contractors, and site teams.
• Strong analytical, organizational, planning, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with project teams and clients.
• Commitment to safety and environmental standards.
• Willingness to travel and work away from home for extended periods, including remote project locations.

Responsibilities

• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site assessments, estimating activities, and early planning to support execution.
• Review and interpret project plans, specifications, schedules, and technical requirements.
• Develop mobilisation plans and support project work plans, budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
• Assist with selecting and allocating personnel, equipment, vessels, and resources.
• Coordinate mobilisation, site setup, daily work, and demobilisation.
• Supervise project and field engineers; coordinate with dredge superintendents on assignments.
• Manage field crew staffing to meet project needs.
• Monitor production, identify improvements, and maximise productivity and efficiency.
• Maintain daily logs, production reports, safety and environmental reporting, and client communications.
• Support procurement by following purchasing procedures and monitoring costs.
