Job summary

KDM Engineering is seeking an experienced Distribution Designer to join our Pennsylvania team. You’ll design overhead and underground utility distribution systems for clients, provide technical guidance across project teams, and help deliver safe, reliable engineering solutions.

You’ll collaborate with clients and project engineers, mentor developing staff, and apply utility standards (NESC) to ensure code compliance.

Qualifications

• BS Electrical Engineering degree.
• 4+ years of prior industry experience.
• Proficient in producing quality electrical design drawings with AutoCAD, TED, and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of PPL Electric Utilities standards and distribution design practices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently design overhead and underground utility distribution systems following client standards.
• Prepare construction drawings, cost estimates, BOMs, and specifications.
• Conduct field visits to gather data and verify site conditions.
• Coordinate with clients, project engineers, and permitting authorities.
• Apply utility standards (NESC) to ensure code compliance.
• Track project progress using client and internal systems.
• Prepare required reports and maintain project documentation.
• Proficiency in design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, and GIS systems.
• Knowledge of pole loading and sag analysis tools (PoleForeman, O-Calc, SpidaCalc).
